Statement by Assembly Health Committee Chair Richard N. Gottfried
“This is a great achievement for the patients and families who’ve been working so hard for the medical marijuana bill, and for Senator Diane Savino,” said Assembly Health Committee Chair Richard N. Gottfried, long-time Assembly sponsor of legislation to allow medical use of marijuana in New York. “Tens of thousands of patients with serious debilitating and life-threatening conditions will lead better and longer lives with less suffering if this legislation becomes law.”
The bill will now go to the Senate Finance Committee. Medical marijuana legislation has passed the Assembly four times.
