I was on WBAI Radio’s Building Bridges last night discussing my New York Health single-payer bill with Mary O’Brien from Physicians for a National Health Program. New York health would provide comprehensive, universal health coverage for every New Yorker. Publicly-sponsored coverage would replace private insurance companies. You and your healthcare provider work to keep you healthy, and New York Health pays the bills. The system would be funded fairly through graduated, progressive taxation, rather than the current system in which a CEO and a receptionist pay the same co-pays, deductibles, and premiums.
